History

Cultural Background

As known in some adaptations of the extensive Addams Family franchise, the Frumps are a family similar to the Addams family who share many things and tastes in common, such as the most exotic customs, traditions, an affinity for the mystical and dark, with an extra eccentricity about them. They also share what normal people see as "strange." However, they are sociable, gathering in assimilated family unions as a happy community and participating in its most important events.

In the one-shot comic The Addams Family: The Bodies Issue, the Frump family are portrayed as an ancient family with darker traditions compared to the Addams family. A large monument in the family cemetery displays the Frump name with carvings of eldritch beings. A one-eyed grimoire made of fleshy skin is kept throughout the generations, passed by Granny Frump to Morticia and then to Wednesday, and can be used to summon eldritch forces, suggesting a history of the esoteric in the family.
