"Wednesday: I was hoping once Day of the Dead was over, you would sashay back into the afterlife.
Larissa: I don't sashay. Ever."

-Wednesday Addams and Larissa Weems

Chapter VI: Woe Thyself is the sixth episode of the second season of the Wednesday series. It aired on the 3rd of September in 2025, on Netflix.

Synopsis

"An encounter with a spirit from Nevermore's past gives Wednesday and Enid a new perspective on one another — and puts one of their classmates in danger."
- Official description from website

Plot Summary

Wednesday applies makeup in a bright-colored outfit. She squeals and then dances through Nevermore. She greets everyone with hugs and waves, then presents herself proudly to the student body.

16 Hours and 36 Minutes Earlier

Wednesday, back in her macabre uniform, attends a meeting with Dort, Santiago, her parents, and Enid. She bitterly reminds Dort of her warnings regarding Tyler Galpin that he ignored. Enid reveals Wednesday's plan to control Tyler, which didn't go well. Dort dismisses Enid while the others reveal that Tyler's mother, Francoise Galpin, was a hyde and part of secret experiments at Willow Hill. Morticia assures Santiago that the Galpins have left town. Dort decides to take the win and institute a school-wide curfew. Santiago, however, knows that murder and mayhem will always follow the Addams family. Wednesday senses Larissa's arrival in the hallway.

Wednesday follows Larissa into Orloff's classroom. The former principal sarcastically applauds her pupil for releasing two hydes. Wednesday wants actual guidance instead of unhelpful quips. Lariss reveals the vision hasn't changed - Enid will still die because of Wednesday. Her psychic ability isn't just inherited; it's intricately tied to her familial bonds. She needs to resolve her issues with her mother and emotions to regain her abilities. Her lack of empathy makes her the spiritual weak link. Wednesday rebukes any need for emotion. Professor Orloff arrives and questions who she's speaking with. Wednesday redirects to Francoise, learning she wasn't interested in science, unlike her brother, a DaVinci named Isaac, who designed the life-support system for Orloff. He was also a pupil of Augustus Stonehearst, who built Isaac a lab in Iago Tower, though it exploded one night. His body was never found, though some say he was buried under the Skull Tree.

Wednesday and Agnes storm Caliban Hall, where Pugsley and Eugene are selling answers to quizzes. She confronts Pugsley about his zombie's location. He saw Slurp at Pilgrim World and let him go, lying to their father about it. She tells Agnes to investigate Isaac Night. Pugsley wants Slurp to have a second chance at life, though Wednesday insults his soft brain. Slurp dropped a photo of Francoise during his escape.

Francoise tends to an ill Tyler in an underground bunker built by his father. Dr. Stonehearst lied to everybody about her death. He is chained to the bed because he unleashed his hyde last night. She will be his master now, despite the illness she conceals from her son. He shouts at her, so she slaps him, scolding him for the indiscretion. She goes to make him pancakes.

Enid practices unsheathing her claws. Bruno arrives, and they discuss her face-off with a hyde. He covers up his texting with a girl, lying that it's his mom. She offers to support him, but he denies the need. They kiss until Professor Capri interrupts them. She reminds him how boys aren't allowed in the girls' dorms alone, making him leave. Capri questions Enid about transforming without a full moon. She could be an Alpha, and they have to manage it if she is one. Enid panics, as Alphas usually end up alone. She assures Enid that, so long as they get her alpha under control, she has nothing to worry about.

Hester is skeet shooting in the backyard of her mansion with help from Varicose. Wednesday asks for help with her psychic ability, since Hester is a fellow Raven. Hester only uses her abilities to spy on her old enemies, as flashes of their suffering brighten her mood. Wednesday remarks how Hester stopped using her gifts after what happened to Aunt Ophelia, though Hester denies it. She suggests that Wednesday find the headstone of former Nevermore Professor Rosaline Rotwood. The inscription will grant temporary sight.

Back in their dorm, Enid questions Wednesday on what she's doing, criticizing her for breaking curfew. Wednesday no longer believes Enid needs to know any of her plans because she will fail. Enid calls her arrogant and accuses her of unleashing chaos just so she can stamp it out and feel superior. They snip over not being capable of walking in each other's shoes.

Wednesday searches the cemetery for Rotwood's headstone.

Thing rushes into Enid's room to warn her that Capri is doing dorm checks. She refuses to miss the gala and leaves to drag Wednesday back by her braids.

Wednesday reads the inscription's warning against breaking the sight, as a deadly trick will be played. She repeats the inscription and is launched into the spirit realm. Rosaline confronts the Raven whose wings have been clipped. She remembers Hester but doesn't sense Hester's sentimentality in Wednesday. Rosaline instructs her to hold her hand over the flame to gain temporary sight. If she pulls her hand away, breaking the Raven's gaze, she will pay a price. Wednesday is launched into a vision of hydes. Enid rips Wednesday away from the gravestone, and they both collapse.

The roommates awaken in their dorm, now in each other's bodies. Enid begins screaming and freaking out. Larissa knows Wednesday broke the Raven's gaze, but because of her arrogance, she leaves the solution up to Wednesday to figure out. The roommates argue over whose fault this is. Enid decides no one can see them like this, though Wednesday isn't interested in hiding. She ignores the pinky promise of getting each other's bodies back and leaves the dorm. Thing watches the situation unfold.

The girls decide not to tell anyone about their body swap. Bianca calls over to Enid, whose excited reaction in Wednesday's body confuses the students. Wednesday tells Enid to stay out of trouble while she fixes everything. Enid compliments students on her way to the coffee cart, where Agnes surprises her. She channels her inner Wednesday to make her usual coffee order, claiming to Agnes that she lies about her color allergy. Agnes watches her saunter off.

Bruno surprises Wednesday, believing she's still Enid. She flips him over and threatens him against surprising her again.

Enid finishes her drink and begins to itch, seeing in the mirror that she's breaking out in hives. Morticia sees her "daughter" and presents a remedy.

In the bathroom, Enid applies the cream, and it magically fixes her hives. She thanks "mom" for help, which Morticia muses is different. She can see her daughter's lighter spirit and questions why she missed her daily allergy pill. Luckily, Morticia has a refill in her purse. She invites her daughter for a family dinner at the cottage, which gives Enid anxiety as she's forced to agree.

Wednesday stalks into the cemetery to contact Rosaline again but fails. Larissa can't help with undoing the curse. She did, however, discover that two Ravens embarked on the journey before Wednesday and were dead within 24 hours. She congratulates Wednesday for being responsible for Enid's premature death after all - and her own.

Isaac searches the Galpin home and pauses to look at himself in a broken mirror. He notices a doghouse in the backyard, sliding it away to reveal an underground entrance.

Tyler eats his breakfast with a long chain still attached to the bed. They hear a knock, and Francoise picks up a gun, pointing it at the door. Isaac and Francoise are in shock seeing each other for the first time in over two decades. She doesn't believe it's him until he recounts her first transformation. They hug tightly, and she introduces Tyler to his uncle. She begins violently coughing, an affliction Francoise explains is a product of their condition. Isaac can still help her slay the beast inside with the right equipment. She tells him how Stonehearst perverted his machine to give outcast gifts to normies, an initiative continued by his daughter Judi. Isaac presents her with Judi's badge as proof of her "permanent retirement." He needs to visit an old friend at Nevermore before they return to Willow Hill.

Wednesday plays her cello in the music room, which astounds Capri. She brings up her risks of being a potential Alpha, suggesting "Enid" head to the lupin cages before sunset. As Wednesday begins to leave, she notices a portrait of Rosaline Rotwood on the wall. She used to teach in the music room. Wednesday decides to visit the cottage.

She breaks into the cottage and calls out for "Mrs. Addams", getting no response. She enters the seance room, which has a manuscript of a romance novel on the table. She realizes in horror that her mother is a novelist. She hears whisperings from the statue of Rosaline, and the spirit grabs her arm. If Wednesday is to regain her flesh, she must be willing to die in Enid's borrowed skin. She has until dawn to unravel the innermost secrets of Enid Sinclair. Morticia arrives and scolds "Enid" for snooping. She accuses the girl of working on behalf of Wednesday and will discuss it with her daughter at dinner.

Back at the dorm, Enid vents to Thing about the dinner. Thing can't go because he's attending a support group for appendages called "Some of Your Parts." Enid sympathizes and decides to gather Addams' intel before her meeting. She finds Wednesday's novel and eagerly reads it against Thing's warning. She finds the character based on her, Evelyn. The character is written as someone Viper pities and protects because of her feeble mind and body. Enid decides to take revenge by inflicting a heinous assault, dressing as her true self.

Enid dances into the quad, and the event is recorded by fellow students. She hugs everyone, which stuns Bianca and Ajax. Bianca surmises that Wednesday has finally cracked. Enid heads into the crowd of students when she starts screaming, hives breaking out all over her body. She collapses to the ground as her skin blisters. Wednesday glares at her from across the courtyard.

Wednesday overhears Bruno talking to a girl on the phone. She knows Tagalog and that he has a girlfriend back home that he failed to mention out of misogynistic deception. She breaks up with him, warning him to never speak to her again. Capri tells "Enid" to get to the lupin cages, ignoring her insistence that she can't. Agnes appears when everyone is gone.

Agnes appears in the dorm and surprises Enid, who is sprawled on her bed watching the videos of "Wednesday"'s breakdown. Agnes believes she has PTSD or a brain tumor. Enid insists she's fine and ignores the girl until she hears "Enid" is in the Lupin cages after breaking up with Bruno. She lashes out at Agnes, who reveals Wednesday's plan to keep her from dying after the premonition of her death. Agnes thinks Enid could be the problem causing Wednesday to crack. She advises cutting off Enid like a bad finger so they can be best friends instead. Enid lashes out at Agnes by calling her a "sycophantic loser" that she uses when it's convenient. She wishes the girl would stay invisible forever. Agnes complies and leaves crying.

Orloff leads the support group, which Agnes tearfully joins. She thought she would finally be seen and have real friends at Nevermore, but she feels more invisible than ever. Orloff welcomes Agnes and Thing to the group. Thing doesn't know where he came from. He was found by the Addams family, with the only key to his past being a signet ring. Orloff advises them not to see themselves as an appendage, but a whole person, worthy of love and respect. Everyone, whether capable or not, claps for him.

Lurch presents dinner to the Addams family. Enid is deeply disturbed by the roadkill pot pie. Morticia and Gomez have a serious discussion with their children regarding lying, reminding their children that lying is good in certain situations, like politics or jury duty. Pugsley admits he lied about Slurp's escape. He's excited for his punishment, and Gomez leads him away. Morticia confronts "Wednesday" over catching "Enid" in the seance chamber. Morticia thinks her daughter has finally lost her mind, but assures a frantic Enid that she will be okay and move into the cottage. Morticia senses a spirit's presence again and shouts for them to show themselves. Larissa appears and reveals she's Wednesday's new spirit guide. The girl sitting at the table can't see her because she's really Enid Sinclair, having swapped bodies with Wednesday after the girl attempted to gain sight at Rosaline's headstone. Enid fearfully nods that it's her in Wednesday's body. The real Wednesday is locked in the lupin cages until morning. Morticia tells Enid to free her daughter and fix this before dawn.

Isaac breaks into Nevermore and enters Orloff's classroom. The professor is shocked at the student's sudden appearance. He knows science has nothing to do with his survival, but rather, a perversion of nature. Isaac gave the professor thirty years of borrowed time through his invention. He's come to collect the time and removes the device powering the invention. He then consumes Orloff's brain so as not to let a great mind go to waste.

Agnes strolls the halls into Orloff's classroom, catching Isaac consuming the professor's brain. She screams in terror and turns invisible to hide from him.

Isaac joins Francoise and Tyler in a car now that he has the device. It's a power source for the machine at Willow Hill since their electrical system was fried. They hear a noise outside, so Francoise has Tyler check outside. He notices the trunk is open and finds a woman inside, dead. He tells his family it's nothing, and they drive away. Agnes is hiding in the trunk, no longer invisible as she tries not to scream.

Wednesday paces in the lupin cages when Enid arrives, confronting her about the vision of her death. She also knows they'll die if they don't switch back by dawn. She answers a call from Agnes, who found Tyler and Isaac. She is hiding in their trunk with a very dead body. She shares her location, and Wednesday realizes they're headed to Willow Hill. They must save Agnes and take down the Galpins before switching back.

Isaac powers up Willow Hill and his machine. He's excited to keep his promise to his sister by freeing her from the horrible curse. Tyler disagrees with the condition being a curse - this is the freest he's ever felt. She reveals every transformation has a human cost. If Isaac can take away her hyde side, then he can stop her from dying. Agnes spies on them from the control room. She turns invisible to avoid detection, though Tyler can sense someone else is there. He grabs her invisible arm and turns her back. Isaac tells him to put her in a cell for a snack after his completion.

Wednesday and Enid arrive just in time to see Isaac restraining Agnes. They watch the mad genius work and the machine whir to life with electricity. Wednesday enters Agnes's cell but is caught by Tyler. Enid restrains Tyler while Wednesday, using Enid's super strength, kicks Tyler across the room. Enid starts freeing Agnes, and Wednesday begins transforming into a werewolf. Tyler seals Wednesday inside the cell while Agnes cranks the knobs to their maximum. Wednesday bursts out of the cell in a jet-black wolf form. Tyler's transformation is stopped by Francoise. Enid calls for Wednesday and tells her they have to leave, so she releases Tyler. The trio escapes the hospital, followed by Isaac, Tyler, and Francoise. The new lab explodes moments later.

In the woods, Wednesday collapses from the exhaustion of transforming. Enid thanks her for saving her life. She asked herself, "What would Enid do?". Agnes realizes they did swap bodies after all, so they must still be friends. They can get used to this new look together. Wednesday is determined to switch back and heads to the cemetery with Enid.

They stand in front of Rotwood's headstone and touch the stone. They share what they've learned about each other. Enid loves being Wednesday because of her fearlessness, except when it comes to Morticia, which Enid understands because Mrs. Addams can be a lot. She understands now that Wednesday is afraid Morticia will never accept her and that her darkness is even too much for Morticia. She's afraid of becoming the disappointment Morticia will never want to speak of, like Ophelia, a notion Enid can feel in Wednesday's bones. She believes Morticia might have more to teach Wednesday than she thinks. For Wednesday, the best thing about being Enid is her quiet strength. Enid might think being an Alpha means she'll be alone, but Wednesday won’t let that happen. But first, Enid needs to stop trying so hard for people who don’t deserve it, like Bruno, who mistook her kindness for weakness. Wednesday now understands that it's not a weakness, but a power, which she could barely handle for one night. She regrets ever underestimating her friend. The girls collapse just as dawn breaks.

The girls wake up in their correct bodies. Enid hugs herself tightly out of joy. Wednesday sends her friend back to the dorm so she can privately speak with Larissa. Larissa reveals that the premonition of Enid's death is no more, but her actions have put a different life at risk. She leads her pupil into the spirit realm for a vision. A flock of birds circles a grave marked "Addams". An Addams must die; the question is, which one it will be.
